Hello everyone! Here is some information about the two important events happening on this Friday...
1. Field Trip to the Santa Fe Opera House- We finally will be heading to the opera house this week after it had to be rescheduled due to weather. Yay! Please have your child bring a snack with their name labeled on it, and a small water bottle (if needed). Dress in layers as it is pretty chilly in the early morning, but then gets warmer by mid-day. 2. Elementary Fun Run- It is not too late to sign up! Please follow this link to register, and if it does not work for you at home please let me know and I can print out an entry form. https://sites.google.com/laschools.net/xcwebsite/upcoming-meet-info?authuser=0 Thanks! Students have created a list of interview questions to ask a family member or neighbor about how our community has changed over time. If your child has misplaced the questions here are the questions they all came up with...
1. How has the nature changed in Los Alamos? 2. How has the population changed in Los Alamos? 3. How have the shops changed over time in Los Alamos? 4. How did the fires change the community? Can I write weekend reading minutes on my child's homework?
- Yes! I encourage it! Since there are no designated spots for weekend days, please write it in on the sides or on a weekday slot. I am looking for 100 total minutes most weeks, so that can be done in one day or spread out throughout the week. I encourage 20 minutes a night because it allows a child to get in the habit of reading daily. What types of reading can I record for minutes read? - Any! You may have your child read by themselves, listen to an audiobook in the car, watch a book on Tumblebooks, or read with your child. Any type of reading is beneficial to your child's learning! Field day is coming up on September 29th! Please contact me if you would like to volunteer to help with this fun event. Additionally, this will be the same day as the Homecoming parade up on the hill so it will be a half day!
Don't forget- make sure your child comes in clothes they can run and play in! Also, wear lots of sunscreen since we will be outside for a good amount of the day. :) I am so excited to start this year off! Remember to come to school well rested and ready to learn.
Our first assignment will be an "All About Me" bag. Please fill your paper bag (or bigger bag if necessary) with 4 things that help us know more about you. Please bring this bag with your items no later than Friday 8/18. |
